Tywardreath is a town and parish named from the Cornish, House on the Sand. Menabilly, ancestral home of the Rashleigh Family and former residence of novelist , Daphne Du Maurier, stands in the parish.
Tywardreath is the the setting for Daphne Du Maurier's novel, The House on the Strand.

Famous Persons
Richard Lobb, born in Tywardreath in 1830, became a shoemaker to Queen Victoria and the crowned heads of Europe after a chance encounter in London with the monarch's footprint.

The Tywardreath Trotter has now been run for 2012 but you can register for the 2013 event by visiting the website mentioned below.
In 2013 Matt will be organising a Running Race and Fun Run on behalf of the Tywardreath fete committee to raise money for village charities. The race will take place on Saturday 27th July 2013.
This will be the 8th year for the race, which has a 1 mile fun run at 5.30pm and the main 7 mile race at 6.30pm. Both races are multi-terrain, with approx half of the main race off road, and the rest on quite country lanes.
In previous years, over 200 runners have taken part and we raised over £1,000 for village charities. (Just in case you have never been to Tywardreath, it’s 6 miles east of St Austell, on the way to Fowey.) Enter or come to watch.
