RSPCA Cornwall Branch is a registered charity, one of 165 branches that together with RSPCA HQ make up the national RSPCA in England & Wales.

Each branch must raise funds locally for whatever animal facility it provides, and RSPCA Cornwall Branch owns and runs the Venton Animal Centre from where more than five hundred unwanted and abandoned animals are rehomed each year.

The unpaid charity trustees must raise £500,000 annually to maintain the Centre and, receiving no financial support from the government, rely on the support of the people of Cornwall.

Visits are carried out to check the suitability of potential new homes prior to animal adoption.
