The King’s Troop is coming! :

Camborne

Camborne Town Council is thrilled that the Left Section of King’s Troop will be returning to Camborne in September. In 2010 Camborne gave the honorary freedom of the Town to the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery and “thereby the right, privilege and distinction of marching through the town on all ceremonial occasions with colours flying, with drums beating and bands playing”. Members of the King’s Troop Left Section will be exercising this right at 6pm on Thursday 22nd September 2011 when they will parade from Camborne Church down Trelowarren Street to Centenary Chapel and back again.

Mayor, Jeff Collins said “It is a real honour that the King’s Troop has chosen to come back to Camborne and ride through the town again this year. It is a very special company and the Council was proud to be able to ask them. It’s a superb occasion for the town”. Town Clerk, Amanda Mugford agreed saying “We have extended the route this year so it should be easier for everyone to get a good view. Last year’s event was really successful and we’re hoping lots of people will come to Camborne to give the Troop their support and a proper Cornish welcome”.

In addition to the parade, the Left Section will be holding an open day at Gwealavellan Farm at 2pm on 23rd September 2011. This will be a chance for the public to see a military display by soldiers and horses from the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery at first hand.
