Looe Lugger Regatta

A biennial event very popular with participants and visitors alike. Two days of Classic Boat racing, with large and small classes.
Boats racing and on view, some of which are over 100 years old. Well supported by our friends from France and their magnificent boats.
Boats will be arriving on the tide on the Friday night, the French may be a little earlier.
Racing from about 10.30am on the Saturday until 5.40pm. Sunday from 11.30am until 3.30pm - subject to weather conditions.
Organised by The Looe Lugger Association and supported by local business and Town Organisations.

Traditional Cornish Pilot Gig racing with 150 crews in the Mixed Veteran & Junior Championships and major RNLI demonstrations on both days. Run by Caradon Pilot Gig Club.
All types of entertainment: street entertainers and children’s rides and entertainment. Of course there is also a wide range of market stalls and food vendors to suit all tastes and budgets, and quirky and interesting craft stalls.
The Regatta continues to be run by volunteers and not for profit. We pride ourselves on putting on a fantastic two day event with great family appeal and a relaxed atmosphere. The Regatta remains FREE to visit and all our live entertainment is also FREE.
The event takes place beneath the Royal Albert and Tamar Road Bridges.

The Ultra Trail South West is a non-stop point to point race which follows the South West Coast Path from Porthleven to Watergate Bay covering a total of 100 miles. Golowan Maritime Festival
|
A traditional boat festival, running alongside the Golowan Festival. Owners and crews of traditional style boats are invited to come and enjoy the atmosphere and pageantry of the Golowan festival from this scenic harbour arena, situated in the heart of historic Penzance
There will be sailing opportunities, with a race and a parade of sail for the energetic individuals who wish to explore the beautiful waters of Mounts Bay, and for those who wish to sit back, relax and soak up the atmosphere, most of the world will seem to pass by their harbour viewpoint at some time during the weekend. The event can be incorporated as a stopping-off point for those vessels heading for the other festivals.
There will be stalls, maritime craft displays, exhibitions and opportunities to meet and mingle with other crews at a crew supper. Penzance is home to a variety of heritage and traditional boats (luggers, gaffers, pilot gigs, ketches, crabbers and toshers), the owners of which, look forward to welcoming friends old and new, to historic maritime Penzance.
Gates to the Wet Dock open 2 hours before high water and until 1 hour after. Free berthing courtesy of, and at the discretion of the Harbour Master.

On Sunday 30th June 2013, Cornwall Hospice Care Fundraiser, ‘The Grand Day Out’ Family Fun Day will return to the Royal Cornwall Showground for it's third year. In the evening this year we are introducing The Big Barn Dance.
The day will offer a variety of events and attractions including a ‘Back To School Sports Day’ Team Challenge, craft & produce fayre, car boot, fun fair, dog and car shows, auction, refreshments, licenced bar and live music.
