The Ocean Pride Returns to Newlyn

Newlyn

The Ocean Pride is the only remaining Peakes built counter stern lugger in existence.

She was discovered languishing in the harbour at Rye in a pretty poor state.

In December 2017 she was brought home to Newlyn on a trailer, causing quite a stir in the heart of Newlyn as the truck and trailer were manoeuvred through the narrow streets. Visit her at Sandy Cove, Newlyn.

In her lifetime she has been owned and skippered by several well known families from Mousehole and Newlyn.

Built in 1919, she will be one hundred years old in 2019.

With the help of the local community, donations and heritage funding she can be restored to her former glory and hopefully in time for her centenary.

If you would like to make a donation you can do this by visiting
www.oceanpride.org.uk and donate through Just Giving.

If you can't donate, you can help by sharing the appeal on Facebook and Twitter. Details on the Ocean Pride website.
