15/06/2011 Siskin An infrequent visitor to my garden appeared today. It was an adult female Siskin. I live in North Petherwin and have a large garden with many trees. The variety of birds here is, to me, remarkable. I have seen Treecreepers, and Nuthatches, as well as most varieties of Titmice. Sparrows abound despite reports that they are becoming scarce. Two Greater Spotted Woodpeckers are presently feeding their young here. Starlings appear to have gone on holiday at this time, as they usually do, but will doubtless return. Occasionally Goldcrests appear and, more frequently, Goldfinches. Dunnocks are also visitors. Meanwhile mixed bathing in the birdbath and squabbling over the birdseed and peanuts by all and sundry!
