
Porthcothan is a small coastal village on Porthcothan Bay.
Porthcothan lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The coast path to the north and south offers wonderful views and cliff scenery with excellent walking conditions.
Storm Anne in early 2014 demolished a coastal landmark here, the arch, Jan Leverton's Rock.
There is a pay-and-display car park and a small grocery shop near the beach.
Former residents of Porthcothan include J. D. Beresford, the early science fiction author, D. H. Lawrence, the novelist and the playwright Nick Darke.
Porthcothan is one of the filming locations for the new series of Poldark.
