RNAS Culdrose is one of Europe’s largest helicopter bases
RNAS Culdrose provides the Royal Navy with highly capable Squadrons specialising in Anti-Submarine Warfare, Anti-Surface Warfare and Airborne Surveillance and Control.
Hosting some 75 aircraft and over 3000 personnel, the Air Station at Helston in Cornwall is a training establishment, a naval base and an industrial site.
Our frontline Squadrons are vital in supporting the Royal Navy in its various Operations across the globe.
Trainee Aircrew, Engineers, Air Traffic Controllers, Fire-fighters and Flight Deck crews all undergo intensive training prior to joining Naval Air Squadrons for duties.
Additionally, our ‘Search and Rescue’ Squadron is on constant standby 365-days a year to react to emergencies throughout the Southwest. Its red and grey helicopters can be seen braving all types of weather responding to calls for help on land and sea.
Culdrose Air Day with flying displays by helicopters and fixed wing aircraft is held once a year in July. Details of Air Day will be published closer to the event.
Car Parking available on most days of the year at the Public Viewing Area and during Air Day.
