Crenver Grove is a large broadleaved woodland at Crowan which offers a variety of educational and leisure activities for the community.

A popular woodland for walkers, it has a good network of footpaths.

Crenver Grove covers nearly 35 acres (14 ha). The wood comprises a mixture of beech, sweet chestnut, several varieties of oak, hornbeam and a few Scots pine trees.

It stands at the southern end of the former St Aubyn estate of Clowance. The woodland dates from the mid to late 18th century when it was planted as part of the landscaping of the Clowance Estate. It is likely that the landscaping was the work of John Nicholls.

It is possible that its location was to screen the mansion from the nearby mines of Crenver and Wheal Abraham which were also owned by the St Aubyn family.

Archaeologists have identified a number of prospecting pits, a mound and a quarry within the confines of the woodland.

During the Second World War US servicemen carried out practice manoeuvres here.

A managed woodland with systematic planting of new trees and use of mature timber.

Notice boards inform of activities. Opportunities exist for learning woodcraft skills.

The woodland was saved from development by the fundraising activities of a group of local people supported by the Dandelion Trust and then managed by the Sustainable Trust. Volunteers have undertaken clearance work of invasive species such as rhododendron and constructed a bridge in wet areas of the woodland as well as creating charcoal to raise funds.

Open to the public during daylight hours.

Careful on road parking is also possible beside the wood.
