Godolphin Trust10

Date: 25 Mar to 23 Dec / Time: 8.30am - 11.30am

Godolphin Trust10, free 5 or 10K multi-terrain run on the fourth Sunday of every month.

Trust10 is a free way-marked trail run for all abilities to enjoy the Godolphin estate. It's free, it's fun, it's informal.

Godolphin Trust10 is two laps of 5K, so 5K runners and walkers are welcome too.

Registration is at 8.30am at the Godolphin Welcome Hut and the run starts at 9am. The Piggery will be open for teas, coffees, cake and socialising after the run from 10am. The route is only way-marked on Trust10 day, but you can check out the Godolphin Trust10 map from the website and give it a try any time.

This is a multi-terrain trail run, so we definitely recommend trail shoes for clambering over the hedges and negotiating the mud.

Please bring your own timing device if timing is important to you as this is an informal event and we don't provide timing. Marshalling is also limited, and the event relies on volunteers to make the magic happen.

We recommend this event for over 14 year olds to run the 10K, and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult for the run.

For full guidance see the Trust10 FAQs, www.nationaltrust.org.uk/activecornwall

Dogs can join in on the lead, as long as you're happy that they'll be able to manage the hedges. Don't forget to bring your change for the car park (and for cake afterwards if you fancy it) or proof of National Trust membership to park for free.

We have an amazing team of Trust10 volunteers, but we're always looking for more help with marshalling, setting up the route, welcoming the runners and back marking.

If you would like to get involved please contact Email: GodolphinTrust10@nationaltrust.org.uk,
Tel: 07766 422 166

You can also become a National Trust fundraiser and raise money to look after this special place. Visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/activecornwall for information

Miracle Theatre ‘The Cherry Orchard’

Date: 15 Jun to 25 Aug / Time: Please see below

Bill Scott’s new adaptation treads a tragicomic tightrope, bringing out all the humour and pathos of Chekhov’s masterpiece which, more than a century after it was written is as popular as ever.

This summer, Miracle unpacks Chekhov’s bittersweet comedy about a once-wealthy family, whose idleness and extravagance have brought them to the brink of bankruptcy.
Obstinate and self-absorbed, they are deaf to the rumblings of change which surrounds them, and unable to accept help when they need it.

Will it take a revolution to destroy their cosy world of privilege and entitlement – or will their own stupidity be enough?

Bill Scott’s new adaptation treads a tragicomic tightrope, bringing out all the humour and pathos of Chekhov’s masterpiece which, more than a century after it was written is as popular as ever.

Audiences of all ages can enjoy the full ‘open air theatre experience’, by bringing along cushions and blankets along with a well-stocked picnic or sample the delicious food and drinks provided onsite. Prepare for all weathers and arrive early for a special night of theatre performed under the stars!

Animals are amazing! There are big ones, little ones, scaly ones, furry ones, friendly ones and scary ones! There are over 8 million different species of animal on earth today and in this show we're going to meet all of them! (Ok, not all of them, but quite a few).

Welcome to the ‘Curious Creatures’ wildlife park, established by Jeremiah Johnson: world-renowned explorer, zoologist and animal collector. Nobody knows more about animals than him.
Unfortunately, Jeremiah Johnson is currently lost somewhere in the jungles of Africa, so he has handed the running of the park over to his inexperienced nephew Craig… and things don’t quite go as planned.

Expect to meet curious creatures of all shapes and sizes: from performing fleas, skateboarding snails and gymnastic gerbils to irritable alligators, over-excited elephants, and a very intelligent orang-utan!
Learn about how animals evolved, how their amazing adaptations help them survive in the wild, and how animals can help us learn more about ourselves. After all, we’re all related if you go back far enough!

1/8/2018 10.30am - 11.30am Sold Out

Percy moves to a lighthouse to find peace and quiet away from his noisy knitting obsessed neighbour.

The lonely, peaceful life he imagines does not materialise as his neighbour arrives to visit him with knitting needles at the ready. But when disaster strikes can either of them save the day?

Children aged from 5 to 100 can learn something from this cautionary tale:- You can’t keep a horse in a lighthouse . . .

Where can you find a creature that is half eagle and half lion? Or one that is half goat, half fish! Or half horse, half human? Or half lion, half goat and half snake? Wait, that’s impossible… or is it? Not in the crazy, mixed-up world of ancient Greek stories, it’s not! (It’s called a Chimera)

The myths and legends of ancient Greece have been passed down through the generations, entrancing and fascinating people for thousands of years…

The old droll tellers travelled from village to village across Cornwall telling traditional tales and passing on gossip and news from Inn to farmhouse. Gradually this way of life died away and the old stories were left to drift on the breeze.

10/8/2018 10.30am - 11.30am

If you go up to the cliffs today you had better go in disguise . . .

Keep your eyes open for the two grizzly old wizards who haunt the cliff tops above the tiny Cornish cove of Porthgwarra.
