Raising Horizons - Photo Exhibition

Date: 7 Jan to 25 Mar / Time: During Museum Opening Times

Raising Horizons highlights the roles and contributions of women in the development of archaeology, palaeontology and geology.

Their achievements range from discovering footprints nearly a million years old, reconstructing Antarctica’s lost forests, multi-media explorations of prehistory and training virtually a whole generation of archaeologists.

Fourteen portraits, posed by women working in the field today, depict an imagined moment in time from the life of a historical counterpart. Based on evidence including original photographs, memoirs, biographies and fieldwork diaries, the exhibition brings to life forgotten women from the past, whilst highlighting their continuing impact and legacy through their connections to today’s pioneers.

Travelling exhibition at the Royal Cornwall Museum,
River Street, Truro, Cornwall.

Wellies are strongly recommended to cross the stream.

General notes: Bring appropriate tools if you have them but essential tools will be supplied.

No need to contact in advance just turn up.
No obligation to stay for the whole day.
If you could spare a couple of hours it would be much appreciated.

Please bring a packed lunch and drinks. Please let others, particularly those without internet/email facilities, know about these projects.

Most people enjoy thse work days and have the satisfaction that they are making a small but significant contribution to improving Cornwall’s public path network.

Directions: From Culdrose, Helston, take the B3293 road towards St Keverne. About 1½ miles beyond Garras, take a left turn, signed Manaccan. At Newtown, take a right, then the 3rd turn on the left.

After half a mile the lane widens just enough to allow roadside parking, just before a concrete track on the left, grid ref SW760235. You may park on the track instead but check the water level in the stream before crossing.
