St Gothian Local Nature Reserve extends from Gwithian Churchtown towards Gwithian and Godrevy Beaches.

The reserve has many footpaths in addition to protected areas, fenced off to protect wildfowl and waders.

Most footpaths are dog friendly and you can wander across the dunes and through the old sand pit, known as Hockins Pit. Certain areas are gated and not for dogs but these are few and they are clearly signposted.

The site was designated as a LNR in 2005. It was created from the former Sand Works.

A large pool was created with an island at its centre, on which you will often see several species of geese, ducks, swans and other waterfowl.

Sand Martins visit annually, using the specially created sand bank on the main pool?.

During the winter and spring more pools form on both sides of the main footpath in the area past the main pool and immediately behind the beach. These temporary pools dry up in the summer but while they are there, they are very popular with dog owners whose pets swim in them.

When you reach the end of the main footpath you can turn right to use the wooden bridge to cross the Red River and walk up onto Godrevy Point, access Gwithian and Godrevy beaches or circle back to your left to walk through the reserve along a myriad of tiny paths back to the roadside parking area.

Car parking is available in laybys on either side of the B3301 near the entrance to the reserve.
