Cornwall Coastal Views: Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes

A large, sandy beach at low tide with many rock pools on the right of the beach.

On the cliffs on both sides of the beach there are many examples of Cornwall's mining heritage. Many adits are visible (the tunnels into the cliffs) and several engine houses can be seen.

You will notice many large blocks of stone on the left side of the beach, some of them still in their original position. These blocks are the remains of the harbour wall.

The cliffs at the back of the beach are very high and friable with many loose rocks so do not climb on them. There are a number of warning signs fixed to the cliff face.

Trevellas Cove
Beaches around Cornwall: Trevellas Cove

Trevellas Cove and Trevaunance Cove at St Agnes are separated by rocks at low tide and you can cross from one beach to the other exploring the rock pools.

If you'd like an alternative walk back you can follow the coast path over the cliffs to return.

Trevellas Coombe, the valley behind the beach has many interesting reminders of Cornish mining and the sides of the valley is a blaze of yellow with gorse bushes flowering.

A stream flows through the valley to the sea, cascading over rocks before it makes its way across the beach.

Trevellas Cove is dog friendly all year round but please be a responsible pet owner and clean up after your dog.

Leading up the cliff towards Trevaunance Cove is a rough track that becomes a hive of activity every Easter Saturday as hundreds of cars and motorcycles try to scale the steep track as they compete in the Land's End Trial. This section of the Trial is known as Blue Hills. For more information visit our Motorsports feature
