Colona Beach is a pretty sandy beach sheltered between Chapel Point and Turbot Point near Gorran Haven
It can only be reached by walking along the coast path from either Gorran Haven or Portmellon.
The beach is east facing and available at all states of the tide.
Good for swimming on an incoming tide but stay within the inlet as there can be strong currents.
Snorkelling is good here at high water and at low tide there are plenty of rock pools to explore.
Colona Beach is also popular for fishing.
There is no lifeguard service and no rescue equipment.
Colona Beach is dog friendly with dogs allowed all year round.
There are no toilets and no facilities. There is a slipway but it is private and not for use by the public.
Location:
The shortest route to Colona Beach is from Portmellon. Park in the village where there is roadside parking available. Walk from the village centre out along the road towards Gorran Haven for about 100m. Chapel Point Lane and the coast path are to the left. After 1.3km on the coast path you will see Colona Beach. An easy path leads you down onto the beach.
You can also approach the beach from Gorran Haven.
