| Brief snippets on Callington's history
Callington was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Calwiton or Calwetone. By 1187 it was written as Calwinton, by 1306 Calyton, by 1421 as Kelyngton and by 1600 as Killiton. By 1866, Callington's Old Clink had been superseded by a grim Victorian police station in Tavistock road and the building gradually fell into disrepair. The building has recently undergone complete renovation and will now be used as a commercial office or similar, ensuring the future of this curious old building.
