An enormous amount of work goes into the production of every scene. The filming alone can take hours for one short scene and that's before the work that takes place after the location work is done. |

The calciner was a labyrinth of tunnels used for extracting arsenic from tin ore. After cooling, workers would enter the tunnels and scrape the arsenic from the walls. |
There is a wealth of mining heritage and natural beauty to enjoy at Botallack. This photograph was taken from the area near the arsenic calciner. |

This shiny, black bird is a member of the Crow family (Corvidae). Perched on top on a mine engine house chimney at Botallack, its body was obscured and only its head and beak could be seen. It is a Raven or a Carrion Crow (Corvus corax or Corvus corone), probably a Carrion Crow.

The vibrant colour of gorse provides a stunning backdrop to the coast path. Gorse's ability to flower for most of the year has prompted the phrase, 'When gorse is out of bloom, then kissing is out of favour'.

An unusual view of these famous engine houses. The Crowns at Botallack are probably the most photographed engine houses in Cornwall because of their unique location. The St Just Mining District contains many fantastic examples of Cornwall's mining heritage. |
West Wheal Owles, also known as Cargodna Mine, is situated on the cliffs on the right of the photo. The Crowns at Botallack can be seen perched just above the sea on the left of the photo. Between them are the remains of Botallack's numerous mining ventures, all part of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site.
