Cornwall Coastal Views: Boat Cove, Pendeen

Boat Cove is a great place to watch the waves. This photograph was taken in April on a windy day a couple of hours before high tide.

In the background is the nearby beach of Portheras Cove that can be accessed by a short walk (1 km) along the coast path.

Portheras is an isolated cove with a sandy beach. It can be accessed via the coast path by parking near Pendeen Lighthouse or from the small car park at Lower Chypraze Farm.

The beach is dog friendly all year round but please be a responsible dog owner and clear up after your pet.

Cornwall Coastal Views: Wildflowers, Wildlife and Portheras Cove

Cornwall's coast path is alive with wildflowers, colourful moths and butterflies and fantastic coastal scenery and beaches. Portheras Cove is on the north coast of the Land's End peninsula. The Cinnabar Moth (Tyria jacobaeae) starts life as the familiar black and yellow striped caterpillar often seen on Ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris). Here its moth is perched on a Scabious flower.
