The Logan Rock is a traditional Cornish village pub with real ales and excellent home cooked food.
Situated in the small picturesque village of Treen, the inn is named after the remarkable Logan Rock which stands on the cliffs within a short walk of the village. This huge granite boulder was famous for its ability to rock back and forth without falling, balanced as it was by nature on the surrounding rocks, a touch from a hand could set it rocking (hence its name from the ancient dialect word 'log' - to rock).
Unfortunately, in 1824, this immovability was seen as a great challenge by a naval officer, who decided to displace it from its position with levers, sending it tumbling down the cliff. The outcry was so great that he was compelled by the Admiralty to restore the almost 70 ton stone to its original position at his own expense - £130 8s 6d. The bill can be seen on display in the bar.
An ideal refreshment stop for hikers walking the coastal footpath and a favourite for a pre performance meal before enjoying an evening at the nearby Minack Theatre, the Logan Rock Inn has a fine welcome and a great atmosphere at any time of year.
During the Winter months an open fire is kept burning in the bar, enjoyed not only by its human visitors but also by the landlord's charming dogs, who like nothing better than to lie in front of the blazing fire.
The building itself is very interesting with wooden beamed ceilings and intriguing local artefacts and has been used as a film location. It features in the Good Pub Guide.
