Bedruthan Steps, in Cornish, Kammow Bosrudhyn, are a series of dramatic rocky islands off the North Cornwall coast named after the legendary giant Bedruthan.
The rock islands are believed to be the stepping stones which Bedruthan used when traversing this area of Cornwall.
Dramatic cliff top views stretch for miles in both directions. Bedruthan steps have been a popular destination since the late Victorian period, when visitors to the new resort of Newquay enjoyed carriage rides here. The entrepreneurial local farmer charged for stalls for the carriages at 1 shilling per horse. Visitors walking to the site could enter free of charge.
Individually named rocks include: Samaritan Island, named after the ship which was wrecked on the beach here in 1846; and Queen Bess Rock, believed to have once borne a resemblance to the Virgin Queen.
The Samaritan was bound for Constantinople when she came ashore with her cargo of cotton, silk and calico. Eight men drowned and two survived.

Parking is available all year round. Toilets and refreshments are available at most times of the year at the car park.
There is a large National Trust car park at Carnewas adjacent to Bedruthan Steps.
