Tregardock Beach is large and sandy interspersed with rocky ledges and around half a mile (700 metres) in length at low tide.
The beach is owned by the National Trust. It is backed by steep cliffs with caves. The pyramid shaped hill behind the northern part of the beach is known as ‘The Mountain’. Tregardock is north-west facing and lies between Port Isaac and Tintagel, south of Tregonnick Point and Tail, near the hamlet of Treligga.
Its aspect and swell makes Tregardock a good surfing beach for the experienced surfer.
Not suitable for swimming due to rip currents and submerged rocks.
Good rock pools.
Little or no beach at high water.
Of interest to geologists.
Usually quiet.
No lifeguard service.
Rescue equipment above the beach steps.
A cave and waterfall can be seen at the northern end of the beach.
Exercise caution when visiting the coves at the southern end of the beach as the tide can come in quickly. The best time to visit is on a falling tide. This will give you more time to explore the southern coves.
Tregardock Beach is dog friendly with dogs allowed all year round.
No facilities. The nearest toilets and shops are at Delabole (2.2 miles / 3.5 km) away from the roadside parking.
Limited roadside parking just above the farm. Please park considerately and do not obscure farm gates or the lane.
You will encounter Tregardock Beach when walking the Cornwall coast path between Trebarwith Strand and Port Gaverne.
To the south of Tregardock beach are Minehousedoor Cove and Treubies Cove. At low water all three beaches merge.
