Porth Beach

Porth Beach is very popular with families. It has a large area of golden sand even at high tide. The Porth Stream (Whipsiderry Stream) crosses the beach. Rock pools can be found on either side of the beach and near Porth Island, where there is a very large rock pool.
Look out for secluded spots on the western side of the beach including the cove known as the 'Great Cupboard'. Access to the beach is level with car parks nearby. Safety equipment is positioned above the beach Swimming is possible on a rising tide. Follow the advice of the lifeguards. There are RNLI lifeguards here from late May until the end of September between 10am and 6pm. Surfing is not permitted during these times but bodyboarding may be allowed. Check with the attending lifeguards. Porth Beach has a seasonal dog ban. Dogs are not allowed on the beach from 15th May to 30th September between 10am and 6pm. Outside these hours and from 1st October to 14th May dogs are allowed and you can walk your dog on the beach. There are facilities including toilets near the car park and places to eat.
