MAWGAN CHURCH DAFFODIL FESTIVAL
Every 2 years in February

Mawgan in Meneage Church Seventh Daffodil Festival

A celebration of the flower and the local industry. Thousands of daffodils displayed in a beautiful medieval church

Saturday 16th, Sunday 17th and Monday 18th February 2019

Over 7000 daffodils in the church and more for sale.

Displays of art and craft plus music and singing.

Open 10.30am to 4.30pm each day.

Tea, coffee and cakes all day every day.
Pasties and soup 12 – 2.00pm Saturday and Sunday.

The new Bishop of Truro, the Rt Revd Philip Mounstephen, will be preaching at the Mawgan Church Daffodil Festival Celtic Evensong at 5pm on Sunday 17th February.

At various times over the weekend there will be Medieval and Folk music from Christine Robertson and friends, classical lute and guitar from Richard Collington, Cornish singers, organists and Maen Voes Choir of St Keverne will be singing, under the baton of Ian Edwards, on Sunday 17th at 3.30pm.

Reeve Ceremony at Godolphin
Every February

The Godolphin family almost lost their estate to the St Aubyns during a wager on a snail race!

A re-enactment of the Reeve Ceremony with Mark Harandon which traditionally took place at sunrise every Candlemass.

This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue.

Dogs on leads are welcome.
Meet in the courtyard, under the colonnades.

St Piran's Day at Porthleven
Every March

Porthleven St Piran's Day. 10am Old Cornwall Society in Porthleven raise the flag at “Gartful”, Breageside by invitation of Andrew and Pru Bell, Porthleven. Cornish dancing.

Every April

Annual Festival at Porthleven. Food, Music and Young People's Festival. First established in 2009. Dog friendly.

Helston Flora / Furry Day
Every May (Usually on the 8th May unless this is a Sunday))

Helstonians dance through the streets in this annual festival known locally as Furry Day.
A series of dances take place throughout the town
Morning Dance starts at the Guildhall at 7am
The Hal-an-Tow starts on St John's Bridge at 8.30am
The Hal-an-Tow another integral part of the day re-enacts the battle of good against evil.
The Children's Dance starts from Wendron Street at 9.40am
The Midday Dance starts from the Guildhall at 12 midday
The Evening Dance starts from the Guildhall at 5pm
Also street stalls, a fair and more.

Freedom of Helston Parade
Every June

Annual parade of sailors from RNAS Culdrose when they exercise their right to march through the streets of Helston with swords drawn, bayonets fixed, drums beating, bands playing and colours flying in accordance with the grant of the Freedom of the Borough of Helston which was given in 1958.

The Town Mayor of Helston inspects the parade and then takes the Salute at the Guildhall accompanied by the Captain of the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose and Members of the Town Council.

The General Public are invited to attend the ceremony.

Motor show with stalls and entertainment. Wendron Football and Cricket Club, near Helston.

Come and experience ‘Fly Navy’ with plenty to see in the sky and experience on the ground.

Coverack Horticultural Show
Every August

Annual show, staged by Coverack Horticultural Society is looked forward to by exhibitors, locals and visitors alike.

This year will be the 65th Show

Entries are welcomed in a variety of classes: Vegetables, Flowers,
Flora art, Domestic classes include bread, cakes, preserves,
Photography and a truly creative Children’s section.

Entries can be taken to the hall on the evening before the show between 6 and 8pm and in the morning from 8 to 10am.

Prize giving at 4.30pm

Porthleven Christmas Market
Every November

In the harbour head marquee will be a variety of stalls which all have something special to give and are just perfect for that unique gift this Christmas.

The Porthleven Christmas market is a not for profit group organised by local residents and business owners. Any profit made from the event will be donated to the Porthleven Christmas Lights and invested into growing the Christmas market for future years.
