Bissoe, in Cornish, 'Besow', meaning 'birch trees', is a hamlet in the Parish of Kea between Truro, Falmouth and Redruth
Bissoe stands on the Coast to Coast Trail, a cycling and walking trail which crosses from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south coast of Cornwall.
This area was formerly highly industrialised with tin mining and arsenic extraction. The Point Mills Arsenic Refinery was located here. One of its managers, Frederick Hamilton Davey, is well known for his botanical skills and his 'Flora of Cornwall'. He became manager of the Cornwall Arsenic Company in 1902 having been assistant to his father for many years.
Bissoe Valley Nature Reserve lies to the south of the hamlet.
