Gew Graze, also known as Soapy Cove, has a sandy beach and is located in the Lizard National Nature Reserve on the Lizard Peninsula

Between Kynance Cove and Mullion Cove, Gew Graze stands in an area of stunning, cliff scenery.

A stream cascades onto the beach producing a small waterfall after heavy rain.

At high water the beach is stony. Gew Graze is not a swimming beach.

There is no lifeguard cover and no rescue equipment.

Its alternative name of Soapy Cove is due to its proximity to a former soap stone quarry. dating from the 1700s. Steatite (soap stone) is used in the manufacture of porcelain.

In the 1900s the cove was known as 'Gue Greze' or 'Corez Cove'.

Gew Graze can be accessed along the coast path from Kynance Cove by parking at the National Trust car park at Kynance or from the National Trust car park at Predannack Wollas.

An alternative route which is slightly shorter is to take to the public bridleway across the downs from Kynance Cove. Shortly after walking 0.6 of a mile (1 km) you will reach a ford where you turn left towards the sea. For part of the walk you will have to walk down a stream bed. If it has been raining wellies may be appropriate.

Gew Graze is dog friendly with dogs allowed all year round. The stream which falls onto the beach provides a source of water for your four-legged friends.

There are no facilities here. The nearest toilets can be found at Mullion Cove (seasonal) and Kynance Cove. The Kynance Cove car park toilets are seasonal but the toilets in the cove are open all year round.
