
Gillan is a hamlet on a creek of the Helford River in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)
In the parish of St Anthony in Meneage, Gillan is on the Lizard peninsula side of the Helford River at the mouth of Gillan Creek. It has a small harbour popular with boat owners and yachtsmen.
The name is believed to derive from the Cornish word 'gilenn' meaning 'nook' or 'creek'.
The Cornwall Coast Path passes through Gillan. There are excellent walks in the area and along the coast.
