Lansallos Beach, also known as West Coombe Beach, is a sheltered, small sandy beach on Lantivet Bay near Polperro.
Consisting of mostly white sand and some shingle, the beach is available at all states of the tide. It is backed by cliffs which exhibit an interesting geological formation of folding.
The pretty crescent shaped cove is at the bottom of West Coombe Valley, a half mile walk from Lansallos village.
A small waterfall known as Reed Water cascades onto the beach and the stream runs across the beach.
The swimming is excellent here, while snorkelling and diving are also popular in the bay.
There are rock pools to explore on the west side of the beach.
The walk to the beach, which starts between Victory Cottage and the Parish Church, is not suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. It is quite steep in parts but very picturesque following a stream through a wooded area before opening out onto fields closer to the coast.
In total it is just under a mile (1.3km). The final access to the beach is a narrow cleft between the rocks.
Lansallos was likely a location used by smugglers.
There is no lifeguard service and no rescue equipment.
Lansallos Beach is dog friendly with dogs allowed all year round.
There are no facilities and no toilets. The nearest are at Polperro.
