Millook is a hamlet in the north of Cornwall with a stony beach known as Millook Haven
Millook is best known for its impressive geological feature, zig-zag folding in Penalt cliff behind the beach, dating back to 320 million years ago.
These amazing rocks are part of the 'Crackington Formation'. They were formed when the thin layers of shales and sandstones were pushed upwards by the collision of tectonic plates at the end of the Carboniferous period.
In 2014 The Geological Society voted the site the best in the "folding and faulting" category and placed it in the top 10 of Britain's geological sites.
Duriing the 18th Century Millook was a notorious spot for smuggling. Tea, brandy and other luxury products were popular with smugglers because of the high excise duty charged on these products.
