Northcott Mouth, near Bude, is a small rocky beach at high water and opens up to a large sandy beach at low tide.
At low water the beach merges with the nearby Crooklets Beach at Bude.
There are plenty of rock pools to explore at low water. A small stream crosses the beach.
The reefs create good conditions for surfing.
Lifeguard service during summer months from 7th July to 2nd September (2018)
Northcott Mouth is dog friendly with dogs allowed all year.
National Trust car park. Some roadside parking during winter months.
No wheelchair access onto the beach but there is a flat area directly above the beach where it is possible to disembark passengers with mobility problems.
A cafe can be found within a short walking distance of the beach. It opens during the summer months and has toilet facilities when the cafe is open.
Northcott Mouth lies within the Duckpool to Furzey Cove Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Geologically interesting, with rocks from the Upper Carboniferous period, being within the Bude formation with jagged fingers of rock projecting into the sea.
To the north is Sandymouth and Duckpool with Bude and Widemouth Bay to the south. You can enjoy a walk along the Cornwall coast path in either direction. The walk to Bude is fairly level.
A shipwreck can be seen at low tide. The SS Belem was wrecked here in November 1917. Its propeller shaft was salvaged and built into a support for Barrel Rock on Bude Breakwater.
