Sophia and Her Newborn Foal

This beautiful baby donkey was born in the early hours of Saturday 13th July at Penryn in Cornwall and was just over 24 hours old when this was filmed on Sunday 14th July.

His proud mum Sophia was rescued by the The Flicka Foundation in June 2019 while carrying this handsome boy.

Her life before this had been a hard, cruel one, with Sophia constantly being impregnated to produce foals which were then taken from her for the meat trade.

Both Sophia and her son are safe now and can live out their lives together, cared for, loved and with the company of around 100 other donkeys and ponies, all rescued by Flicka.

At the time of writing this little sweetheart does not have a name so if you have a suggestion before 29th July 2019 you could be the person who names him.

See how you can suggest a name at Just Giving
