Mylor stands on the waterside of Mylor Creek, on the lower reaches of the Carrick Roads, close to Falmouth.
The village has a fine harbour. Once a dockyard and a stopping place for the packet ships, Mylor today caters for a large number of visiting yachts and sailing vessels.
Within a short distance of the harbour is Mylor Church dedicated to St Mylor. Its amazingly tall Celtic stone cross stands at over 10 feet. The cross is believed to date from the 10th century.
