Porth Saxon Beach, also known as Porth Sawsen or Cow Beach is a small, sandy beach on the northern bank of the Helford River near its estuary.
The beach consists of flat slate pebbles at high tide and it is sandy at low water.
A small stream flows onto the beach.
Swimming is possible as the beach is sheltered but watch out for currents on a changing tide.
A boat house stands behind the beach.
Porth Saxon is dog friendly with dogs allowed all year round.
No lifeguard service and no safety equipment.
Parking is at Mawnan Church or at Mawnan Smith with a mile walk from either.
Walking from the former, take the path on the right of the church and walk through a small area of woodland before turning right to walk towards Toll Point. Follow the path down through the fields to the beach. Approx. 1 mile (1.6 km)
If you are walking from Mawnan Smith, take the footpath through the woods of the Carwinion Valley. 0.6 mile (1 km)
