Owners and crews of traditional style boats are invited to come and enjoy the atmosphere and pageantry of the Golowan festival from this scenic harbour arena, situated in the heart of historic Penzance
There will be sailing opportunities, with a race and a parade of sail for the energetic individuals who wish to explore the beautiful waters of Mounts Bay, and for those who wish to sit back, relax and soak up the atmosphere, most of the world will seem to pass by their harbour viewpoint at some time during the weekend. The event can be incorporated as a stopping-off point for those vessels heading for the other festivals.
There will be stalls, maritime craft displays, exhibitions and opportunities to meet and mingle with other crews at a crew supper. Penzance is home to a variety of heritage and traditional boats (luggers, gaffers, pilot gigs, ketches, crabbers and toshers), the owners of which, look forward to welcoming friends old and new, to historic maritime Penzance.
Gates to the Wet Dock open 2 hours before high water and until 1 hour after. Free berthing courtesy of, and at the discretion of the Harbour Master.

Montol is the Cornish word for the Midwinter Solstice according to Edward Lhuyd in his 1700 MSS Vocabulary. See the Montol Festival website for details of the events.
