Portreath battered by Storm Eleanor

Portreath's harbour wall has suffered severe damage during Storm Eleanor. A large section of the harbour wall, almost 40 foot of it, has collapsed near the Waterfront Inn after being pounded by huge waves, leaving nearby homes at risk of flooding.

Residents were temporarily evacuated from their homes as the next high tide threatened to breach the wall further.

Cormac workers were on scene soon after the collapse to fence off the area and make it safe.

In 2014, 4 years ago to the day, Portreath was hit by another storm which demolished the 200 year old look-out hut on the harbour, known as the 'monkey house'. The look-out was rebuilt and survived Storm Eleanor.
