Carrick Du Mine (also known as Carrick Dhu Mine, Carrack Dews Mine and Carrack Dhu Mine) is sited at the west end of Porthmeor beach.
Its name comes from the words, 'karreg' meaning 'rock' and 'du' meaning 'black' therefore Black Rock Mine.
Between 1856 and 1860 it produced 5 tons of black tin and 1120 tons of copper ore.
