North Battery Mine (also known as Battery Mine) was situated on The Island at St Ives.
The mine produced tin and was in operation during the 18th century (if not earlier) and ceased production in 1822.
At its 7 fm level it was driven 20 fms beneath the sea.
The geology of the site is greenstone with lodes running through it.
The Island (St Ives Head) exhibits evidence of ancient mining all along its northern shore.
