Wheal Dream, St Ives lies between Porthgwidden Cove and the harbour.
Little is known about mining production at Wheal Dream. It stood in the area now occupied by St Ives Museum. Parts of the mine's walls can be seen on Bamaluz Beach.
It was an early mining venture and one that was not particularly successful. In the mid 19th century, it's main building was converted to a pilchard palace, a place where pilchards were cured and packed.
Later the building was used as a religious meeting house, laundry, cinema and the ground floor formerly housed the famous Troika Pottery,
The upper level of the building was the British Sailors Society Mission but since 1968 the building has been home to the St Ives Museum.
