Wheal Tavas was a small tin mine on the outskirts of St Ives.
Little is known about it including its exact location as there is nothing left of its workings.
It lay to the south of St Ives Consols and worked the western part of the Bahavella lode.
This lode is located south of Standard lode of St Ives Consols and courses roughly parallel to it at a distance of 300 yards. Its eastern part was worked for copper by Wheal Bahavella.
It has been suggested by Dines that Wheal Tavas shared the same location as Wheal Applin and was an alternative name for this mine but Noall has disputed this and believes the mines to be separate and distinct.
