Kennack Sands in History
This coastline is famous for shipwrecks with the treachorous Manacles not being far away. The beach has seen many stranded vessels including the Normand of Nantes, a 100 ton vessel which drifted onto the sands in 1914. There are believed to be remains of some of these wrecked vessels in shallow water off the beach and sometimes they can be sighted jutting from the waves at low tides.
