St Buryan, in Cornish, Eglosberrie, is a parish and town on the Land's End peninsula close to the south coast.
The town is dominated by the imposing church of St Buriana, Norman in origin and with a magnificent 15th Century tower.
St Buryan is believed to occupy the site of the former collegiate church of Austin Canons founded by Athelstan in A.D. 930.
St Buryan parish has many ancient monuments from the Bronze, Iron and early Christian periods including The Pipers standing stones, the Merry Maidens stone circle and a wealth of granite carved circular-headed crosses, one of which stands on a plinth outside the church.
