Newquay has 6 fine beaches, Lusty Glaze, Towan, Great Western, Tolcarne, Fistral and Harbour offering the perfect sand and surf conditions for everyone from families with children to experienced surfers and those wishing to learn.
Towan, Tolcarne and Great Western beaches are sheltered, with up to a one mile stretch of sand at low water. Great Western beach is backed by high cliffs with access to the beach by steps.At high water Great Western is a small beach but at low tide it merges with Towan and Tolcarne beaches to produce one large beach. Blue Flag Award Surfing at Great Western is possible during a moderate swell as the beach is exposed to the Atlantic. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Great Western beach from mid May to around the end of September. Tolcarne beach is a popular family beach.Tolcarne is a sandy beach, easily accessible from Newquay town centre. It merges with Great Western and Towan beaches at low water. Facilities include beach huts, toilets, shop and cafe with parking in Newquay town centre. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Tolcarne beach from around May 19th to the end of September. Towan is a sandy beach between Harbour and Great Western beaches.During low water Towan connects with Great Western and Tolcarne beaches. Easily accessible from Newquay town centre. The Island, rises from the beach, crowned by a unique holiday accomodation and joined to the mainland by a suspension bridge.RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Towan beach at Easter and then from around May 1st to the end of September. Towan Surf Report Surfing conditions at Towan beach including wave height, swell direction, wind direction and speed, tides times, sea temperature and weather conditions. Lusty Glaze beach is a small beach of golden sand at the end of the chain of Newquay's beaches.Accessed from steps down the cliff or from adjacent beaches at low water. Facilities include toilets, parking in Newquay. Lifeguard service during the summer. Lusty Glaze has a dog ban between 1st and 1st September between 9am and 6pm Lusty Glaze Surf Report Surfing conditions at Lusty Glaze beach including wave height, swell direction, wind direction and speed, tides times, sea temperature and weather conditions. Harbour Beach is a small sandy beach at the western end of Newquay's row of beaches.Sheltered between the harbour walls. Newquay harbour is dog friendly with dogs allowed on the beach all year round.
