The 2011 CORNWALL Christmas BEAR FAIR, is to be held on Sunday 27th November at The Community Centre Lostwithiel [PL22 0HE], and will be the first Bear Fair jointly organised by Teddies of Trenode and Urchins Bear Shop of Boscastle. It is, however, the fourteenth Christmas Bear Fair staged at the Centre involving Teddies of Trenode.
The new partnership is determined to make this year’s fair “The Best in the West!” even better than the past great successes. There will be over 45 stands, in a festive setting, featuring hundreds of teddy bears - old and antique [some over 100 years old!] – new, artist and designer, handcrafted by international and national artists [many from Devon and Cornwall] – Urchins Bears plus Apple Pie House and Kingswear Bears will have their superb stocks of well known international trademark bears and friends.

Tricia of Teddies of Trenode will have an extensive selection of ‘oldies’ to choose from, as well as giving Free Valuations for any ‘veterans’ brought in and Cassy from The Tamar Valley Teddy Hospital will be on hand to give restoration advice and if necessary to hospitalise any infirmed teddies. ‘Mohair Bear Making Supplies’ from Telford will be providing a very extensive range of bear making kits, patterns, materials and accessories and will also be giving practical advice to any budding bear artists. In addition the Fair will support two Charity Stands on site – Cornwall Hospice Care and WSPA’s “Libearty” [which rescues bears from captivity and in distress throughout the world].

Situated on the A390, which runs through Lostwithiel - “The Antique Centre of Cornwall” – the Community Centre is a very popular venue with both exhibitors and visitors alike. It has very good catering facilities and free parking directly outside and throughout the town.

The Fair will once again have two Champagne Competitions - for the “The Best Christmas Stand” and “The Best Christmas Bear” – this is for an own bear creation, of any size – to be voted for by visitors to the Fair – so bring your own! The winners will each receive a bottle of real Champagne plus an engraved Cup. There will also be a ‘Free Teddy Prize Draw’. The Draw and Champagne Awards will take place at approximately 3.45pm.

The Fair will take place between 10.00am and 4.00pm and the entrance fee will be £2.00 for adults. Accompanied children aged under 14 will be admitted for free.
