Headworx to sponsor England Surf Team
Boardsports brand Headworx is aiming to put its Rider’s Choice philosophy under the spotlight as the new clothing sponsor of the England Surf Team.
The company – which already has Reubin Pearce and rising star Matt Capel under its wing in its surf team - has struck a deal with the English Surfing Federation ahead of the European Championships in Portugal, to provide the kit for both English surfers and bodyboarders.
The European Championships are due to kick off in just over a week’s time and the company will pull out all the stops to provide the English representatives with the clothing essentials - t-shirts, hoodies, boardshorts, waterproof jackets and trucker caps.
“It’s been a bit last minute but we are keen to be involved in surfing at the highest level and we hope this will be the start of a long and successful partnership with the English Surf Team.” explained Headworx Marketing Manager Ben Byfield. “it’s a great way to share our ‘Rider’s Choice’ philosophy with both competitors and supporters.”
The Headworx in-house design team will create kit and rash vests to reflect England’s national colours. They will turn out kit for both the female and male riders in the team – which includes Headworx young gun Capel.
The brand was bought six months ago by entrepreneur Neil Rotherham and textiles expert and surf enthusiast Jos Ruiterman. In that short space of time, Headworx has clearly re-established itself on the surfing scene, making a return to sponsoring grass-roots events at the Headworx BPSA Welsh Open and now taking another step forward by sponsoring the England Surf Team.
