Porthcurnick Beach is a large, sandy beach near Portscatho on the Roseland Peninsula.
The beach is sheltered with a small stream crossing it and is backed by cliffs with Pednavadan headland to the east and Portscatho to the west. It is owned by the National Trust.
Accessed from Portscatho down a flight of steps or from Rosevine down a slipway. This slipway used to be part of the road to Portscatho but due to coastal erosion the road has been lost.
Swimming is possible on an incoming tide. Porthcurnick is not a surfing beach. Snorkelling is good towards Bass Rock and Pednavadan. There are plenty of rock pools to explore at low tide and if you enjoy walking you can explore the coastal footpath towards Pendower Beach to the east and St Anthony Head with its lighthouse to the west.
There is no lifeguard cover. Safety equipment is located on the slipway to the beach.
Porthcurnick Beach is dog friendly with dogs allowed on the beach all year round.
A few parking spaces are available on the road above the slipway on the eastern side of the beach. There is a much larger parking area at Portscatho from where you can follow a public footpath and the coast path to a flight of steps leading onto the beach.
Toilets are available just above the beach.
