Pendower Beach is large and sandy with a stream and backed by sand dunes
There is a large expanse of sand above the high water mark so the beach can be enjoyed at any state of the tide. At low water Pendower Beach merges with Carne Beach to create one long expanse of sand.
The beach is very popular with families. Swimming is safe but it is preferable to swim on an incoming tide. There is good snorkelling at the western end of the beach. Kite surfers and bodyboarders also enjoy the beach.
Of interest to geologists is the fascinating raised beach in the low cliffs behind the beach.
There are two car parks. One is accessed from the centre of Veryan and has spaces for over 100 cars while the other is approached from the A3078 and signposted for Pendower which has space for around 16 cars.
Pendower Beach is dog friendly with dogs allowed all year round as long as they are on a lead between 9am and 6pm from 1st May until the 30th September.
Pendower Beach has no safety equipment and there is no lifeguard cover at any time of year.
The Cornwall Coast Path passes behind the beach and there is a pleasant walk inland up through the valley past Melinsey Mill towards Veryan.
