St Anthony Head stands in an imposing position overlooking the estuary of the Fal River and the Carrick Roads
St Anthony Lighthouse, built in 1834 provides a beacon protecting shipping entering the Carrick Roads from the treacherous rocks known as The Manacles.
St Anthony Battery was in use up until the post war period. It's commanding views of the Fal estuary made it an ideal observation point for looking out for enemy shipping.
For visitors who enjoy observing wildlife, a birdwatching hide is situated on the headland.
The rocks which lie offshore of the lighthouse are a favourite with sea birds, particularly shags who can often be seen drying their wings in the sun.
