Portholland is village on the south coast of Cornwall divided into two - West Portholland and East Portholland - in the parish of St Michael Caerhays.
Each hamlet has its own beach and at low tide they join up and you can walk the beach between the two.
East Portholland is the larger village and a delightful place, quiet, unspoiled and very pretty with a few cottages clustered around the beach.
In April 2015, Portholland was transformed to become a Welsh village for Tim Burton's latest film. Stars include Samuel L Jackson, Eva Green, Chris O'Dowd, Dame Judi Dench and Terrence Stamp.
The villages are located within an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Most of the properties here are owned by the Caerhayes Castle Estate, formerly the home of the ancient Trevanion family. In 1860 the estate was sold to another well established Cornish family, the Williams'.
The hamlets have been kept as a working, farm-based community, maintaining a simplicity and lack of development, with little change for over one hundred years, which has seen East and West Portholland, awarded the status of National Heritage Assets.
