Gunwalloe Beaches

• Gunwalloe Church Cove
  
  Church Cove is very picturesque. It has a sandy beach bordered on one side by the parish church and on the other by crumbling cliffs. There is a small dune system at the back of the beach. The beach is good for surfing.
  
  Facilities include car park, toilets and cafe.
  
  Dogs are not allowed on Church Cove beach between 1st July and the 31st August between 10am and 6pm but outside these hours and between 1st September and 30th June it is dog friendly and dogs are allowed.

• Dollar Cove - Jangye Ryn
  
  Dollar Cove, is a west facing beach, just north of Church Cove. It derived its name from a Portuguese treasure ship which sank offshore in 1526 and in 1783 a ship carrying silver dollars was wrecked here.
  
  The beach is mostly shingle and stone with some sand. There are rock pools to explore.
  Beach fishing is a popular sport in the autumn.
  
  Of geological interest are the formations in the rocks here of heavily contorted strata caused by centuries of tectonic shift.
  
  Unsuitable for swimming because of strong rip currents at low water. The beach shelves steeply.
  
  Snorkelling is possible under rare conditions when the water is sufficiently calm.
  Kite surfing and inflatables are not allowed.
  
  No lifeguard service.
  
  To the north of Dollar Cove Pedngwinian Head
  
  The beach is owned and managed by the National Trust.
  There are no facilities at Dollar Cove. Toilets are close-by but only open during the summer. A small cafe near the toilets is open during the summer.
  
  The nearest shops, restaurants and pubs are at Helston and Mullion.
  
  Dollar Cove is dog friendly with dogs allowed all year round.
  
  The National Trust car park is only 109 yards (100m) from Dollar Cove.
  
  
  


• Gunwalloe Fishing Cove - Halzephron Cove
  
  A rocky cove with a shingle beach with very steep cliffs. It would have once been associated with the fishing industry, with seining for pilchards being a familiar sight and the cries of the huers on shore as they guided the fishermen to the shoals of pilchard. No swimming. Car parking available. No lifeguard service. Gunwalloe Fishing Cove is is dog friendly with dogs allowed on the beach all year round.
