At low tide, Chapel Porth opens out into a large sandy beach with rock pools and caves on the north side of the beach. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Chapel Porth beach from mid May to the end of September. Chapel Porth has a dog ban from 1st July to the 31st August between 10am and 6pm and is dog friendly outside these hours and between 1st September and 30th June. Porthtowan beach is a wide sandy beach backed by dunes and flanked by cliffs.There is plenty of beach at all states of the tide but at low water the sands extend from Lushington Cove in the west and towards Chapel Porth to the east. Blue Flag award. Surfing at Porthtowan is popular and various surfing events are held here. Porthtowan beach has a seasonal dog ban 15th May to 30th September between 10am and 6pm. Outside these hours and between 1st October and the 14th May dogs are allowed on the beach. Facilities include a large car park with toilets close to the beach, shops and cafes. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Porthtowan beach at Easter and then from the beginning of May to the end of September. Portreath beach is sandy with shingle, popular with families and for surfing.The beach is flanked by a harbour wall to the east and cliffs to the west with a stream running down the middle of the beach. There are rock pools to explore near to the harbour wall. Facilities include car parking adjacent to the beach, toilets, shops and cafes. Surfing at Portreath is divided into two distinct experience levels. Near the harbour wall is for experienced surfers only as the reef break here produces a powerful wave, the Vortex. The area in front of the beach is good for all levels of ability. Go to yosurfer.com for surf reports & forecasts There is another smaller beach to the west of Portreath, Bassetts Cove, which can be accessed by a walk of about 2 miles west along the coast path or by driving along the coast road, B3301, in the direction of Hayle. Parking is available on the cliff above the beach. Bassetts Cove is dog friendly with dogs allowed on the beach all year round. Portreath beaches on the map Trevaunance Cove, the main beach of St Agnes, is a popular haunt for both local surfers and visitors.It is a small beach backed by cliffs and rocks and has many rock pools to explore. There is no beach at high tide. It is possible to climb over the rocks at the north of the beach to walk to Trevellas Porth which has a small beach. Facilities include parking with 2 small car parks within a short distance of the beach, toilets, beach shop and cafe. The road access to the beach is short and quite steep. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Trevaunance Cove beach from mid May to around the end of September. During the summer months dogs should be kept on a lead.
