Mulfra Quoit is an impressive monument belonging to the category of Neolithic tombs known as a Penwith chamber tombs

It dates from the period between 4000 BC and 2000 BC. It stands on Mulfra Hill near Newmill on the Land's End peninsula.

From its remains, it appears that it once stood within a mound which would have been about 11 metres (feet) in diameter. Three of the four erect stones which formed the chamber remain and the capstone has slid to one side.

In 1749, Mulfra quoit was excavated by the antiquarian and historian, William Borlase. He identified a pit 0.5 metres deep which contained 'black, greasy loam'.

It can be accessed by public footpath from the Try Valley on the Penzance to Gurnard Head road.
