Cape Cornwall beach to the south at the base of Cape Cornwall is known as Priest's Cove and is popular with swimmers. The beach is recorded as having been in use since medieval times. At low tide the rock pools form a rock swimming pool. The rock pools are also good for exploring for sea life. Due to an increase in dog fouling at Priest's Cove, the Cape Slip Association and the National Trust have reluctantly decided that dogs are no longer allowed from Easter to 30th September from the area of the winch house down into the cove. From 1st October to Easter dogs are allowed. There is a car park and toilets. Tide Times at Cape Cornwall A fine beach of golden sand which is popular with families because of the sheltered safe bathing which it offers. Water sports activities are restricted. Carbis Bay has a dog ban from 15th May to 30th September between 10am and 6pm and is dog friendly outside these hours and between 1st October and 14th May. Car parking is available near to the beach. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Carbis Bay from late May to early September. Gwithian Beach is a very popular family beach. It has a huge expanse of sand which at low tide extends to Godrevy and in the other direction all the way to Hayle. It also has rock pools. The World Land Speedsailing Championships are often held here and it is also a popular location for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Gwithian Towans sand dunes border the beach and provide excellent opportunities for walking and exploring. Car parking is available and there are good local facilities including a cafe, beach shop and toilets. Dogs are not allowed on Gwithian beach from 1st July to 31st August between 10am and 6pm but it is dog friendly outside of these hours and from 1st September to 30th June when dogs are allowed. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Gwithian beach at Easter and then from mid May to around the 20th September. Peter's Point Beach lies just to the West of the main beach at Gwithian. Dogs are allowed on this part of the beach all year round but due to the steps having collapsed the access to this area of the beach is currently restricted. Hayle has over 3 miles of golden sands with long sandy beaches stretching from Phillack on the mouth of the River Hayle to Upton Towans and towards Gwithian, provide a perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying the magnificent panoramic views towards Godrevy lighhouse and St Ives. At low tide the beach extends all the way from Hayle to Godrevy. On the other side of the Hayle estuary is another stretch of fine golden sand - Porth Kidney Sands. This long beach backed by sand dunes has sections each with its own name and lifeguard service.
Lamorna Cove has a small pebble beach which is sandy at low tide. There is no lifeguard service. The cove is popular with divers. Facilities include: Car Park (paying); toilets, cafe and nearby pub. Lamorna Cove beach has a seasonal dog ban from Easter day to 1st October Lamorna cove and its harbour walls can take a fierce battering from the sea during Winter gales but on balmy Summer days, the sea can be so tranquil as to appear like a mill-pond. Porth Kidney beach is a large, popular, sandy beach backed by Lelant's sand dunes and by cliffs. It is also popular with Hang Gliders and Para Gliders. Porthkidney beach is dog friendly with dogs allowed on the beach all year round. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Porth Kidney beach from early July to early September. Car parking is available very close to the beach. There is no lifeguard service. The nearest facilities are in the village of Longrock. Longrock beach is dog friendly with dogs allowed on the beach all year round. Marazion has a fine beach of golden sand and access to St Michaels's Mount via a cobbled stone causeway. See St Michael's Mount for more detailed information about the island and its history. The sandy beach has views across Mounts Bay, stretching from the Lizard Peninsula and across towards Land's End. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Marazion beach from early July to the beginning of September. The beach is popular with families and good for beginner surfers as it is quite sheltered. The wind is usually from the south west which makes it an onshore breeze. Surfing at Marazion has its moments for more experienced surfers when there is a large southerly swell and winds from the north. Marazion beach has a dog ban from 1st July to 31st August between 10am and 6pm and is dog friendly outside of these hours and between 1st September and 30th June when dogs are allowed. Mousehole has two small beaches but it is primarily a fishing harbour. Salt Ponds beach consists of pebbles and is just to the east of the village below the Old Coastguard Hotel. Dogs are allowed all year round at any time. Mousehole Harbour beach is sandy and within the harbour. No lifeguard service. No dogs allowed at any time of year. Car parks are available on the edge of Mousehole and the village has toilets and plenty of shops and cafes. Newlyn has three beaches. One is in the town itself and can be accessed by road. This beach is sandy, dog friendly with dogs allowed all year round. No lifeguard service. Facilities including car parking and toilets are available. The second beach is an extension of the Penzance Promenade beach. This beach is pebbly. It is easily accessed from Newlyn Green and where the annual raft race is held. See Events for details. Between Newlyn Beach and Battery Rocks there is a dog ban from 1st July to 31st August between 10am and 6pm. Outside these hours and from 1st September to 30th June dogs are allowed. Roskilly Beach lies to the West of Newlyn. Roskilly is dog friendly with dogs allowed on the beach all year round. Penberth Cove has a pebbly beachDogs are not allowed on the slipway and fish landing areas at any time of the year. Please see the signs in place at Penberth. Dog walkers can access the coast path via the stepping stones across the stream. There are no facilities except for some on-road parking.

Perranuthnoe beach is a large beach about a half mile in length with a combination of sand and pebbles, mostly sand at low tide.Known as Perran Sands but not to be confused with the beach of the same name at Perranporth. Perranuthnoe beach is easily accessible from the adjacent car park. The beach is good for swimming and surfing. Facilities include car park, toilets, shop and cafe. There is a dog ban from 1st July to 31st August between the hours of 10am and 6pm and outside these hours and from 1st September to 30th June the beach is dog friendly. Perranuthnoe beach on the map Porth Chapel beach is small and sandy in a very picturesque setting between the headlands of Carn Barges and Pedn-men-an-MereThere is no lifeguard service but rescue equipment is available. Parking is available in a field near St Levan Church. The nearest facilities are at Porthcurno. Porth Chapel Beach is dog friendly with dogs allowed on the beach all year round, Porth Nanven beach is prettily situated at the end of the Cot ValleyThe beach is of sand with some large rounded stones. The area has many interesting features. There is no lifeguard service. Car parking is available. The nearest facilities are at St Just Porthcurno's beach of golden white sand set against spectacular cliffs is popular with both residents and tourists.Good for surfing when the weather conditions are suitable. Porthcurno beach is quite steeply shelving and provides good swimming for experienced swimmers. Facilities include large car park close to the beach, toilets and cafe. Percella Cove A small beach of golden white sand which can be accessed from Porthcurno Beach at low tide. Pedn Vounder Beach Accessed via the coast path, this small secluded beach is east of Porthcurno, at the foot of Treryn Dinas cliff. The path is quite steep. Pednvounder beach has no facilities or lifeguard service. It is also known as Treen Beach. Porthgwarra beach is small stony beach at high water and at low tide the beach is narrow and sandy with rock pools.It is suitable for swimming but take care and only swim within the cove. Facilities include car parking, toilets, telephone and a small shop. No lifeguard service but rescue equipment is available. Porthgwarra beach has a dog ban from 1st July to 31st August between 10am and 6pm and is dog friendly outside these hours and from 1st September to 30th June. Praa Sands beach is mostly sandy and a mile in length.The western end of the beach is more sandy and close to the facilities. At the eastern end there are many rock pools to explore. Facilities include car parking, toilets, shops and cafes. RNLI Lifeguards are on duty at Praa Sands at Easter and then from the beginning of May to the end of September. Surfing at Praa Sands is very popular. Prussia Cove consists of four small rocky coves - Bessy's Cove, Piskies Cove, Coule's Cove and King's Cove.Piskies Cove has two small sandy beaches which disappear at high tide. Bessy's Cove is the closest to the car park and is named after a former local landlord, who was fond of smuggled brandy. King's Cove is near the Enys. This beach has no public access. Coule's Cove is the easternmost beach. No facilities except a small car parking area in a field. There are no beaches at high tide. No lifeguard service. Prussia Cove is dog friendly with dogs allowed at any time of year. Whitesand Bay has two fine beaches, one at at Sennen Cove and the other slightly to the north of the cove at Gwenver.Both are excellent for swimming and surfing and Whitesand Bay is also frequented by wind surfers. Sennen Cove beach is very easy to access and there are car parks at each end of the cove. Facilities include toilets, shops and cafes.
